IPowerweb / IPower clients enduring massive problems

Thu, 17th May 2007, 14:49

It seems that IPowerweb / IPower clientele are experiencing massive problems since Friday of last week. According to several Hostjury readers users of the IPowerweb / IPower service have been unable to check their e-mail since late Friday evening.

According to our sources it appears that Endurance International Group went ahead with their planned server migration without notifying any of their clients! The result is continuous problems and issues, clients unable to check their e-mail & unable to login to their web hosting accounts.

One IPowerweb / IPower user stated that technical support seems oblivious to the migration stating that the issues were a result of "Corrupt passwords" and would be handled within a few hours. Over five days later and the problems are still occurring.

We suppose the Endurance International Group name has another possible meaning. Just how long can their clientele endure problems!

I've had some problems with iPower in the past, but recent experiences were okay: their customer service was good, and they took care of things quickly. My email went down this morning (7/20/08) and has yet to come back.

Even stranger, iPower's own web site is down!

Reading some of the comments here, I'm getting concerned because I run my freelance writing business through the domain I host at iPower, so I can't lose email for an extended period of time.

Has anyone been able to get through to iPower's own web site? Thanks.

  2. John Knapp Says:

Sites and email seem to be going intermitently off and on again and customer service intermitently not avaialble again as my businesses emails have not faithfully functioned this summer of 2008.

Yesterday, 07July 16, 2008, POP email failed as it has unexpectedly for weeks.

The official notice in my V3 web management tools read "E-mail issues have been resolved yet my companies' emails were non functional.

"Last night at approx. 11:30PM in California their Chat Customer Service message box responded "Please try again later".

My multiple domains were moved to V-Deck-3 six months ago but problems just do not seem to stop.

I know attorneys but to embarassed to let them know how stupid We were to trust they would work out the problems...we LOST major business this past weekend because our potential clients could not register with our site...i want to sue them PERIOD!

  4. Bill C Says:

I'm experience intermittent access failures and slowness for all of the web sites I run through iPower. No email problems as of yet.

No information as to what's going on.

  5. Cindy Says:

    Email still down.

A message on live chat for tech support states:

"Thank you for contacting support. If you are calling to report that you are unable to access your Web site or e-mail, this is a situation that we're aware of. Our engineers are currently working on the issue to resolve it as soon as possible. We know how important the Web site and e-mail services are for our customers and we deeply regret this inconvenience."

  6. Cindy Says:

Our family's accounts hosted by IPower and Start Logic were both down for awhile. My email is still not back up.

  7. Cindy Says:

My web site and email have been down for more than an hour. Live chat has this message:

"Thank you for contacting support. If you are calling to report an issue with your Web site and e-mail, please be informed that we are aware of it and working to resolve it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We will update you on any further development."

  8. Monomni Says:

OK, what EXACTLY do we have to do to file a lawsuit against iPower (class action or individually)????

I have never seen such a horrible and pathetic company as iPower! One of our client's e-commerce site has now been down FOR OVER TWO WEEKS... and they've done nothing but lie about having it fixed within a few hours and lie about someone calling us back. And the site is STILL not fixed.

After dozens of emails and calls, hours of wasted time, thousands of dollars in lost sales, and the damage to the client's image and reputation, we want to file a lawsuit against iPower / iPowerWeb ASAP.

  9. DYGIT Says:

Unbelievably bad tech support -I get put on hold and then disconnected after waiting on hold for 20+ minutes - twice! I'd almost swear they are doing it on purpose. I had a problem last year - spent 5 hours on the phone with them - they kept saying the problem was mine - turns out it was ipower's fault because they moved my site to a different server. I cannot recommend them to anyone!!!!

  10. Yelena Says:

My and my clients websites was down many many times.

The personal information of ownership for my domain names was lost.

After upgrading the Vdeck to the new platform Ipower just simply forgot to move my e-commerce website to the new server and happily destroyed the old one without backup.

If you sum all the hours I spent on hold with Ipower, it will equal of few weeks of my life. :( :( :(

I hope for Class Action Lawsuit.

  11. Rick Says:

BEWARE: Startlogic and Ipowerweb are the same companies!

IPOWERWEB used to be good until they started to transfer to the newer system, I have been unable to edit my website for months and I told them I want my account cancelled and my money back, I have lost time and money and they could care less my company is in ruins because of them and another thing beware:

startlogic and ipowerweb are the same companies!

  12. Jay Says:

I really don't know the root of all of your complaints, but I do know this: Yesterday I received a check from Endurance, complete with watermark and hologram, wanting me to perform several duties as their new "mystery shopper." To make a long story short, the check is fraudulent, so the problem is a crime.

  13. Ted Says:

Ipowerweb is terrible. Our email is still down. Problems for us started on 6/17.

  14. gl3nk Says:

    Ipower sucks. Period.

    Ian,

There's a fairly large list of the owned ones here:

  16. Ian Says:

I am sad to see so many people still suffering from the poor services offered by Ipowerweb and Endurance International. I wanted to remind everyone, you can unlock your domain name by visiting:

    https://manage.opensrs.net/

After unlocking it you will be able to migrate your domain name away from them.

I still encourage everyone to file a complaint with the BBB and the Arizona Attourney General. If enough people get the message accross, there is bound to be a lawsuit or investigation done.

Just a little extra knowledge about Endurance International's practices. Did you know that Endurance International buys hosting companies and turns them into what Ipower now is? Why you might ask yourself? Well, they get a $50 cancellation fee for you cancelling your membership. If Endurance International bought ipower with 700,000 members, and all cancel their accounts, Endurance International will still make:

    700,000 * $50 = $35,000,000

If you take this math a step farther, Endurance International owns many other companies such as starlogic, powweb, etc..

Say Endurance International owns 12 other companies, which is probablly close to accurate, and this same business model is used (which due any research into this company and you will see this is how Endurance International does business!)

    12 webhosts * $50 cancelation fee * 700,000 members per host =

    $420,000,000

Maybe instead of feeding this beast (Endurance International) We should ban together and boycott anysite owned by this company. Otherwise, leaving ipower isnt fixing the problem, it could actually be perpetuating it!

Anyone have a list of companies owned by Endurance International? I can't find one anywhere. It would be nice to know which hosts use this same poor business model.

My web site hosted by IPower and my email hosted by IPower is still down.

    Olu,

Well, visa can definitely refund you as long as it has been within 90 days. Something to note is that any credit card user can do what is known as a 'chargeback' but always save it as the last option as using it frequently can be malicious to your credit rating.

Otherwise, if they're non-responsive or beating around the bush: It's a solid way of guaranteeing your funds back.

Sorry to hear about the consistent problems though, you'd think they would learn after bleeding so many of their clients.
